Three Common Plumbing Problems

There is nothing like the dreaded 'glub glub' of a kitchen sink. That moment when you realize the water isn't draining; it's just sitting there. We at Tri-City Appliance understand the frustration homeowners feel when plumbing issues arise.

While most plumbing issues are common, they are still annoying. Here are some of the most irritating issues and what to look for before you call a plumber:

Faucet
Clogged Drains

We have all experienced clogged drains. Water pools up in the sinks. Occasionally a bubble may float to the surface, but nothing else is moving. Kitchen sinks can be clogged by grease being drained into the sink. The toilet can be clogged by toddlers flushing toys. Bathtubs and showers can accumulate hair in the drains. Though you might try to use a plunger or liquid drain cleaner to resolve these issues, it’s not always a success. When you find yourself using liquid drain cleaner on a frequent basis, or the plunger just won’t cut it — it’s time to give us a call.

Burst Pipes

Pipes that freeze and then thaw can crack or break. Sometimes water pressure will cause pipes to burst. Whatever the culprit, this is one of the most costly issues, simply because so much damage can be done before the problem is discovered. Water can spray underneath cabinets, floors, and carpet. This can warp sub-floors, ruin the carpet, and even damage walls. Signs to look for would be wet areas in your carpet, or along your walls. Water coming from under your cabinetry or sinks is another warning sign. Call the plumber immediately.

Leaks

Leaky faucets that drip through the night can drive you crazy. That same leak underneath your faucet can rot wood, cause mold, and do lots of damage. Fixing leaks as soon as they are found could save you hundreds of dollars.

If you're dealing with a minor plumbing annoyance, know that Tri-City is here for all of your plumbing needs. Just give us a call and we’ll diagnose the problem and offer you the best way to fix it!
