3 Reasons to Replace an Appliance
Like most homeowners, there’s a chance the appliances that you have in your humble abode have been around for quite some time — and that’s okay! However, there does come a day when you may need to consider replacing them with newer, more efficient appliances. Here’s what to consider, friends.
Reason #1: Appliance Constantly Needs Repair
Do you have a problematic stove or refrigerator? If so, there’s a chance you have your appliance repair technician on speed dial. While there’s nothing wrong with a little fix here and there, if it’s an ongoing problem, you may want to consider replacing that appliance altogether.
Truthfully, you may find yourself in a unique situation: the number of service calls you’ve had to make over the past few months may eventually equate to the total of a new and improved appliance. While some new appliances come with a hefty price tag, other options can make it easier to kick your current appliance to the curb much quicker!
Reason #2: Appliance is 10 Years Old (or Older)
Sure, appliances may seem to age like fine wine — but, sometimes, the older they climb on the birthday ladder, the more problematic they may become over time. Before deeming every appliance is too old to be in your home, here’s a quick list of when to expect each appliance to “retire”:
Fridge: 10-15 years
Stove/Oven: 10-15 years
Dishwasher: 10-13 years
Washer/Dryer: 10 years
Microwave: 10-12 years
Reason #3: Appliance is Not Energy-Efficient
As we’ve mentioned earlier, while there’s nothing wrong with having an older appliance in your home, you may want to consider upgrading to a new and improved model. Appliances, such as ENERGY STAR certified appliances, provide homeowners with the power of a hard-working appliance but help save on operating costs (thanks to a reduction in energy consumption).
